From A Diffuser Newbie To Master! How To Use & Maintain Your Diffuser
Looking for a way to improve the ambience of your home without resorting to expensive candles or harsh chemicals? A ceramic diffuser is a wonderful way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils while also adding a decorative touch to your space. Base Essentials sources only premium ceramic diffusers, so you can be sure you’re getting the best quality product. And our diffusers are great for large spaces – just a small amount of essential oil goes a long way. Plus, they’re safe to use as there’s no heat or flame required. But like all great appliances, it’s important to maintain your ceramic diffuser properly in order to extend its lifespan and enjoy the best possible scent experience.
How to use my diffuser
To experience the holistic benefits of aromatherapy, essential oils are evaporated into the air via the diffuser and when inhaled, carry the molecules to the limbic system in the brain. The limbic system is linked to mood and tension related bodily functions, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and hormone balance. Using the Base Essential essential oil of your choice in conjunction with a diffuser can allow you to experience the pure, natural benefits of essential oils and blends conveniently throughout your day. Aromatherapy has been known to aid headaches, improve sleep quality, reduce stress and agitation, and help you breathe better.
To use your diffuser you fill the water container up to the water limit line (or less) and add 3-8 drops of your favourite essential oils. The great part of this process is that you can use some of Base Essential’s propriety blends or create your own with a variety of our pure essential oils. You can experiment and create your own blends and aromas according to your own favourites.
How often do I need to clean my diffuser?
You can clean your diffuser as part of a daily routine, but we also recommend a deeper clean every 4-8 weeks depending on how often you are using the diffuser. As part of your regular routine when you’ve finished diffusing an oil, make it a habit to empty any remaining water from the water container. Stagnant water can create build-up within the machine, and residual oil can linger too, affecting the scent output the next time you diffuse.
How do I clean my diffuser?
For your daily routine simply draining your water out and wiping it with cotton balls or a dry cloth help absorb some of the residual oils, leaving it fresh for your next use. You should allow it to air between uses to minimise any harbouring of moisture.
For a deeper clean, which we recommend every 4-8 weeks, we suggest the following steps:
-
Start by unplugging your diffuser and emptying any water
-
Fill the diffuser halfway with plain water and a teaspoon of vinegar.
-
Run it for 5-10 mins so the vinegar can disperse throughout the components of the diffuser.
-
Empty the water and vinegar solution
-
You can clean loose components like the mist vent separately with warm soapy water and ensure it is air dried, once again leaving it clean. Please note that you should never put your diffuser in water. Remember it has electronic components and this action is likely to void your manufacturers warranty.
So there you have it! Everything you need to know about diffusers and how to get the most out of yours.
